GTA 5: First trailer discoveries

In the week since the first Grand Theft Auto V trailer was released, the internet has been flooded with websites and blogs analysing the trailer and seeing what they can find - even I begun a post like this, only to reailse I was too late to just be repeating what others had already said. Instead, I decided to post what I found in the trailer and what I have not seen mentioned on other GTA V sources - you can see each of these scenes in the trailer by going to the timeframe mentioned per screenshot (click each image to see larger);

00:18  -  Although everyone has been focusing on the 'Speedophile 2000' jetski and getting excited about the fact we will be able to user watercraft in the game, there is another goodie in this shot. Take a look behind the guy on the jetski and you will see a big warship. Although I am positive this won't be something you'll be able to pilot, it is most likely the GTA version of the USS Iowa (see image of the ship here).

00:30  -  The exercise equipment, DJ equipment, turned-over chairs etc have been mentioned from the shot of the people doing Yoga on their balcony, but there is also a coin operated binocular on the neighbours balcony that I have not seen mentioned. Perhaps we won't be able to use these, but it just goes to show Rockstar North have not spared any detail in GTA V.

00:42  - All focus in this scene has been on the crop-duster and the workers over which it flies. But take a look in the background and you will see a winding road going up the mountain. Even though Take-Two has officially confirmed that GTA:V will be set in Los Santos including hills and surrounds, it is good to see this for ourselves also.

00:49  -  this may be clutching at straws, but have a look at the grafiti in the top left of the below screen (zoomed in on the 2nd image below). Does this say '11 Sep' or is it my imagination? Although I would much rather believe the current rumours going around that GTA:V will come out 24 May 2012, could it be that the game will be released 11 September 2012? Personally, I don't think Rockstar has dropped any hints about the release date as it has probably not been finalised and there would be no benefit in them throwing hints here and there, when they could just come out with the date if they knew when it was.Nonetheless, I thought it was an interesting find and you can all make up your own minds.

00:55  -  Who is the character in the blue car talking to the prostitutes in this shot? He bears a bit of a resemblence to the bald guy on the right jumping out of the van at 00:46 (see 2nd image below)

01:03  -  In the car chase the car passes a commercial building with a red sign at the entrance - Is the red 3D sign at the entrance of the building a play on Enron? It looks to be a big red E at an angle, similar to the Enron sign.

01:04  -  This same scene shows the Vapid Police Cruiser flash past. On the side of the cruiser we can see a crest for San Andreas. What is interesting with the crest is the bottom right image is a big foot. If you're new to the GTA series, you may not remember the famous myth that was doing the rounds when GTA: San Andreas was recently out - there were rumours a bigfoot could be found on Mt Chilliad and a mod was even made for the pc version (see here for more info). Will Rockstar include a bigfoot this time, or are they just having a laugh at the myth from GTA: San Andreas?

01:04  -  in this same scene we can see the license plate of the Police Cruiser. Although there is nothing really interesting with this scene, compare the license plate to that of the van at 00:46. Although these look similar, look at the writing on the Van's license plate where it says 'San Andreas'. The Police Cruiser has block writing, where the van has a more italic style. I'm not doubting for a second that these both say San Andreas, however it is interesting to see that even the license plates have such detail that they vary (presumably one is an older style plate and one a newer).

This game will be amazing - the level of detail is just mind-boggling ... Now if Rockstar was just so kind as to tell us when the release date is, we can all sleep better at night. Until then, I for one will be checking the Rockstar website and twitter accounts daily to see if any new information is up.

I hope you enjoyed my post, if you did please share this link with your friends.

Dissecting the first GTA 5 trailer pt1

Rockstar Games' release of the first trailer of GTA 5 has speculation about the game running wild. Who will be the main character? How big will the map be? When will the game come out? Although these questions cannot be confirmed from a single 1m7s trailer, it is interesting what we can see in such a short trailer nonetheless. I will go through the trailer scene by scene and analyse what I found interesting. Note that what I comment on is assuming that all footage in the trailer is gameplay footage;

Firstly the obvious in this first shot of the trailer, there is a dog on the beach! Given we had dogs in Red Dead Redemption, this is very likely going to mean this shot is not a one off and GTA V will include dogs. It is also interesting to note in this shot how the wind affects the flag and rescue buoy hanging from the building - they are flailing in the wind which shows a great level of detail in the game. This is evident in many scenes throughout the trailer, keep an eye out next time you watch it. Also the waves on the beach have some amazing detail, as well as the sand being blown by the wind along the beach (look below the building and at the bottom right of the screen when watching the video)This level of detail is something we have not seen before in Grand Theft Auto titles, and I think is definitely something to be excited about.

The next two screenshots show a few interesting things; the runner is wearing a green shirt that says 'Pump & Run Gymnasium', which leads me to believe that you will be able to use the gym to customise your character like in GTA San Andreas. What also caught my eye in this scene was the interaction between the two female joggers running away from the screen. In old GTA titles, although there were occasional incidences of the AI interacting (stealing each others cars etc), however this looks to be on another level - they even react to the other runners going past them (coming towards the screen).

Golf - can we expect golf mini games in GTA V? I sure hope so! Also interesting to note is the blimp at the top right corner of the screen - this also makes an appearance in numerous other scenes in the trailer. Will we be able to fly the blimp?

Speedophile 2000 - Looks like we will be able to drive jetski's!

If we can explore those mountains, the map size on GTA V will be on another level. Given the characters on screen are wearing hiking/camping gear, and are looking towards the mountain, I think it's safe to assume that this will be an area free to explore.

What is also interesting in these scenes is that two players are holding hands in this scene, and what's more exciting is the fact that the lady in green on the right has sweat under her armpits. It looks like not only the GTA5 world but the characters will be so detailed it's surreal!

Thanks for reading, I will shortly be posting pt2 of the trailer analysis, come back soon for the update!
